AAH rolls out training for ProScript LINK

AAH Pharmaceuticals has launched a series of training sessions in Scotland to support the migration of users from LINK, to ProScript LINK.

AAH says it plans to deploy the electronic chronic medication service (eCMS) there via ProScript LINK by spring 2010.

In conjunction with Scottish Executive Health Department AAH has agreement that funding will be paid to all contractors whose deployment takes place after the current March 2010 deployment date.

Borders pharmacist George Romanes, a LINK-user for most of his career, said the introductory training gave a good flavour of the new system and clarified the priority being given in Scotland to eCMS on which pharmacy remuneration will depend.

He said getting to grips with eCMS was the key concern of Scottish pharmacists so supplier support was vital and AAH had clearly invested significant resource here.

“A network is in place with AAH – we’ll get online training and full guidance once the installation process is done. There’s a tight timescale, but the roll out plans look good.

“The new features will add value to pharmacy business. One of the useful things about the new system is that it allows pharmacists to make repeat prescriptions once the PMR comes across, which will save a great deal of time.”

The new system includes modules on Responsible Pharmacist and substance misuse, in addition to access to text messaging.

AAH group managing director Mark James said the system would provide greater functionality for users – in line with future requirements of the national IT agendas.

Further training sessions will be conducted in Edinburgh, Inverness and Aberdeen.

The migration will be rolled out more widely after its implementation in Scotland, and is expected to be complete throughout the whole of the UK by the end of 2011.
