AAH chief welcomes Simon Burns’ statement

Mark James, group managing director for AAH Pharmaceuticals Ltd, has said that community pharmacy will welcome the recent statement from the English Health Minister Simon Burns that the Department of Health has ‘no plans to make changes to the pharmacy and pharmaceutical wholesaler sectors based on the recommendations in the McKinsey report.’

“The McKinsey report recommended taking £60-110m out of the revenues of pharmaceutical wholesalers and a further £60-110m from community pharmacy by raising clawback to 11 per cent.

“Had they been implemented, these proposals would have hit community pharmacy hard and I am relieved the Minister has stated they will not be implemented,” he said.
