The hotly contested Association of Pharmacy Technicians UK (APTUK) awards were a resounding success recently as technicians from all walks of pharmacy life descended on Cranage Hall, Cheshire, for the annual presentation evening.
The award winners had been notified in advance and Donna Bartlett, development and improvement project lead technician at NHS Northwest medicines management network scooped the primary care award for her submission ‘delivering injectable training on swine flu vaccinations to non-registered staff.
Karen Pawelcyzk, senior technician for vaccine supplies, pharmacy distribution centre, Glasgow took the professional award.
Sponsored by AAH Pharmaceuticals, this annual event has grown year on year, as has the calibre of entrants says the company.
Andrew Morris, director of hospital service for AAH said: “Yet again, this year’s entrants have raised the bar demonstrating the sterling efforts put in by pharmacy technicians around the UK.
AAH is now urging pharmacy technicians to enter for the 2011 awards which are now open. There are three levels; primary, secondary and professional. The primary and secondary categories are for pharmacy technicians to enter themselves while the professional award requires a colleague nomination.
Amongst the prizes is an education bursary. For further information on how to enter for 2011 visit www.aah.co.uk
